Home based Care
For the eldery people living with HIV/AIDS, the eldery without family support and
Orphans we offer Home based Care Services.
PLHAServices and eldery people
o Ongoing psychosocial support to people living with HIV and Orphans
o Improving on Hygiene and Sanitation in the families of people living with
HIV
o We teach people living with HIV how to make kitchen gardens which
helps them to improve on their nutrition
o We help them to construct a plate stand
o We encourage them to live positive
o We also encourage them working for themselves
o We tell them to stop stigmatizing others
o We encourage them to make groups where they can create an
environment of sharing experience and challenges
o We tell them to disclose to their partners
o To those who have not disclosed or did not test as a couple we
encourage them to test as couples
o We encourage them to test their children for HIV/AIDS
o We encourage them to form income generating activities
o We encourage them to develop memory books
o We also encourage them to make wills
Orphans and Vulnerable children
o We offer brief counseling
o Ongoing counseling psychosocially
o We tell them their rights (Children’s rights)
o We encourage them to go to school
o We link some of them to NGOs which provides scholastic materials and
few of them to NGOs which provides school fees
o We refer them for HIV testing
o To those who are HIV positive we encourage them to take drugs on the
right time as required
o We also tell them to respect their elders/caretakers and also know their
responsibilities as children
o We encourage children to play with others to forget the past
o We give them information about HIV
Caregivers/Guardians
o We tell them the rights of children to treat children as they are
o We also tell them to take children for VCT/ HCT at any center
o To show children/ OVCs Love
o To take children for medication
o To at least provide affordable basic needs
o Provide security to the children that you are taking care of
o Allow children to play with others
o Tell children what they are supposed to do and what they are not
supposed to do
